Historic advance for the Bolivian chia sector: Bolivia will export chia directly to China

In an unprecedented advance for the agricultural sector, Bolivia signed the Phytosanitary Requirements Protocol that will allow the direct export of chia to the Chinese market, one of the largest and most demanding in the world. This achievement consolidates Bolivia as a key player in the global food trade.

The ISSASIERRA company is proud to have taken an active part in this historic process, which marks a before and after in the national chiero sector. As part of the efforts and efforts made, this agreement opens new opportunities for local exports, positioning our country in strategic international markets.

Thanks to close coordination between the Government, the Chamber of Exporters of Santa Cruz (Cadex) and Senasag, this agreement opens the possibility of exporting up to 9,000 tons of chia per year, with an estimated value that could exceed $100 million.

The process included rigorous technical inspections by Chinese experts and years of diplomatic efforts that culminated with the signing of the protocol on November 29, 2024. This achievement not only strengthens the country’s economy, but also positions Bolivia as a leader in the export of high quality agricultural products.

This agreement represents a crucial advance for Bolivian chia, marking a path towards sustainable growth and diversification of international markets.
